Tallinn University gets huge overtime win over 1182 Tallinn

In a critical game which went into overtime, Tallinn University turned the tables upside down by downing 1182 Tallinn 89-87 at home on Wednesday, January 28.

 

Tallinn University became the first team to inflict a loss to the Top 3 – TTT Rīga, SK Cēsis, 1182 Tallinn – side. It was also the first win for the head coach Janne Rits.

 

Until today the bottom three teams hold the unimpressive record of 0-15 against the top 3. It`s 1-16 now.

 

Tallinn University players Rachel Jones, Oksana Miil, Laura Audere, Guna Lagzdiņa and Kerttu Jallai played more than 35 minutes each to build a 14 point lead in the middle of the third quarter 55-41.

 

1182 Tallinn fought back to equalize the score with 04:39 left in the regulation 67-67.

 

Pirgit Püü tied it again at 75-75 to force overtime.

 

The overtime session was tight. Guna Lagzdiņa and Laura Audere were fouled out but the hosts eventually won.

 

Tallinn University improved to 8-6, while 1182 Tallinn dropped to 11-3.

 

All time series: 3-4 (this season 1-1).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University players hit 26 of 35 field goals after assists, while making 11 assists more than their opponents (26-15).

 

Stars of the game: Rachel Jones flirted with triple-double, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists. Kerttu Jallai had 27 points on 11-of-21 shooting. Oksana Miil added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Mailis Pokk replied with 21 points and nine rebounds.
