RSU/Merks adds Latvian international Zane Tamane

RSU/Merks reached an agreement with center Zane Tamane to work together during the 2015 Latvia-Estonia league play-offs, the club announced on Monday, March 9.

 

Zane Tamane is the first Latvian player in the Women`s National Basketball Association. She played for the "Washington Mystics" in the summer of 2006.

 

Tamane returned to the WNBA in 2012. She made the roster for the "Phoenix Mercury". However, she chose to represent the National team in the EuroBasket Women 2013 qualifying campaign.

 

Zane Tamane is the most decorated player in the history of the NCAA Division 1 team "Western Illinois Leathernecks" (2003-2006), where she averaged 14,6 points and 9,1 rebounds in 106 games.

 

Tamane was the first player from the Mid Continent Conference (MCC) to sign with the WNBA.

 

She has played for the National team in 131 games and scored 1089 points.

 

Tamane will decide by herself when and where to play the next game.
