Vega 1/Liepāja ends 1182 Tallinn three year run

 Kristīne Silarāja and Ieva Vītola combined for a 48 points to help the Vega 1/Liepāja beat 1182 Tallinn 76-66 on Sunday, December 13.

 

 

 After losing in the last minutes of the 2014 Latvia-Estonia league quarterfinal in Tallinn, Vega 1/Liepāja coach Armands Misus and his team weren`t going to let another chance slip away.

 

1182 Tallinn started strong and led for most of the game, extending its lead to 30-37 early in the second half.

 

Home side cut the gap to one point before the last quarter 50-51.

 

The hosts seized control in the final ten minutes, however, a two pointer by Shaquanda Wiggins brought 1182 Tallinn as close a 66-64.

 

Kristīna Petermane and Ilze Jākobsone answered with two triples 72-64.

 

1182 Tallinn could get no closer than six points (72-66) the rest of the way.

Stat of the game: Ilze Jākobsone and Kristīna Petermane combined for a 10 points in the last two minutes of regulation.

 

Stars of the game: Ieva Vītola led the winners with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field. Kristīne Silarāja had 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and seven forced fouls.

 

Kristīna Petermane added economy double-double, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ilze Jākobsone scored 10 points, grabbed six boards and dished nine assists.

 

Pirgit Püü replied with 17 points.
