University of Latvia (3-0) remain unbeaten in the Nordea Basketball league. Rūdolfs Rozītis and Ilze Ose-Hlebovicka team capped another win over "Vega 1/Liepāja" (1-1) to consolidate their lead in the second group.

Students did not get paid for what they do, however it doesn`t stop them to do what they love with passion and enthusiasm. On the other hand there are some advantages too. It`s difficult to find a women`s team with three coaches like the University of Latvia does.

The team is well coached. All coaches are former players and very often that previous playing experience is the difference between a win and a loss. Scouting reports come in all shapes and sizes. Players get to work out on a regular basis.

That`s why they were able to win Liepāja again. Armands Misus team lost some important players in the first half of the season. Starting point guard Janina Nikitina suffered a torn Achilles and perimeter shooter Alise Strausa suffered a torn ACL.

Kristīna Cirša threes in the first half helped Liepāja to get into the lead after the first twenty minutes , 27-31. They lost initiative in the second half, despite grabbing 11 more offensive rebounds (18-7). Forward Eva Pavlovska, guards Anete Vorma and Liene Stalidzāne broke their defense. They made some key shots off the arc and drew offensive fouls to score a landmark win, 65-57 (15:12, 13:19, 19:14, 18:12).

Sabīne Niedola played all forty minutes to mark her second double-double of the season. She tallied 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists (10+9 in the second half). Katarzyna Suknarowska and Kristīna Cirša also scored double digits for Liepāja.

All time series: 2-2 (this season 2-0).

Stat of the game: The shooting percentage of the “Vega 1/Liepāja” fell off a cliff to 30,4% (21 out of 69 attempts).

Star of the game: Eva Pavlovska scored her fifth double-double of the season. She finished with a team high 18 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three steals for efficiency rating of 24.
