Dramatic win and first medal for Vega 1/Liepāja

 Vega 1/Liepāja wrapped up their second Final Six trip on a high after securing third place in Tallinn with a 78-71 victory against 1182 Tallinn on Sunday, April 10.




Armands Misus team headed to the Estonian capital after losing all their previous encounters in Audentes gym, including a heart breaking 64-67 loss in the quarterfinal on April 4, 2014.


They turned the tables upside down.


After arrival of Latvia international Dita Rozenberga, Vega 1/Liepāja acquired effective offensive weapon under the basket.


Rozenberga forced a game high seven fouls and scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting to break the hosts defense.


The guests were unstoppable outside the arc too, hitting 11 of 27 three point shots, while the Estonian champions connected 5 of 11 attempts, including two in the last five minutes.


Dita Rozenberga and Annika K öster  were injured during the game, while Daiga Līne and Kristīna Petermane were fouled out.


All time series: 3-6 (this season 3-1).


Stat of the game: Four Vega 1/Liepāja players – Ilze Jākobsone, Kristīna Petermane, Dita Rozenberga, Kristīne Silarāja – scored in double figures.


Stars of the game: Ilze Jākobsone made four three pointers, including the one two minutes before the end of regulation (70-65) to finish the game with 20 points.


Dita Rozenberga had 15 points, nine rebounds and seven forced fouls for a efficiency rating of 23.


Kristīna Petermane scored 15 points. Long time leader of the Liepāja team added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.


Kristīne Silarāja had 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the perimeter. She grabbed eight rebounds and dished five assists.


Pirgit Püü scored a game high 24 points.
