Aizsila sisters make it rain in Rapla

Sisters Ance and Kate Aizsila needed no time to adjust in their first visit to Rapla, lifting the visiting RSU team to a 63-60 win over FCR Media/Rapla on Saturday, November 5.

 

They combined for nine three-pointers and 35 points as the visitors went on a 25-8 run late in the first half.

 

Ance Aizsila joined RSU after two seasons in France and Germany.

 

She made four consecutive three pointers and five-out-of-six in the first half alone to give her team a 40-25 lead.

 

Twin sister Kate added another four long balls, including some very important shots in the second half.

 

Teammates Elīna Grinberga, Guna Lagzdiņa and Madara Gulbe contributed in the paint, winning the battle of rebounds (50-39).

 

FCR Media/Rapla cut the gap to one point midway the third quarter, 55-54.

 

It wasn`t enough.

 

RSU improved to 3-0, while FCR Media/Rapla dropped to 2-2.

 

All time series: 4-9 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: the visitors scored 12 three-pointers in 25 attempts.

 

Stars of the game: Ance Aizsila had 21 point on 8-of-17 shooting from the field.

 

Kate Aizsila scored 14 points, while Elīna Grinberga added 10 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for a efficiency rating 17.

 

Pirgit Püü replied with 17 points. Francisca Donders and Darya Lipinskaja had 15 and 14 points respectively.
