Greeta Üprus: game winning three-pointer against RSU

Greeta Üprus made a game winning three pointer with 1:01 minutes left to give the Tallinn University a 68-65 home win over RSU on Sunday, November 6.

 

 

Aivars Vīnbergs team started the Latvia-Estonia league season with three wins over Latvijas Universitāte, Tartu University/Kalev and FCR Media/Rapla.

 

Aizsila sisters – Ance and Kate – combined for a 37 points, including nine three-pointers in Rapla on Saturday.

 

Kate had a big first quarter in Tallinn too, scoring 12 of the team`s first 15 points for a 15-7 lead.

 

Together with Ance they scored 23 points in the first half. Forward Madara Gulbe added two three-pointers to maintain her team ahead at halftime, 37-33.

 

The guests didn`t scored from deep the rest of the way.

 

Trine Kasemägi engineered a comeback, scoring 12 and 13 points in each half respectively.

 

She got aid from Sam MacKay, Petra Noponen and Greeta Üprus.

 

The guards connected three long balls early in the fourth quarter to pull ahead for a 57-52 lead.

 

RSU went on a final 6-13 run to regain a 63-65 advantage with 01:17 left.

 

Aizsila sisters missed their last second attempts.

 

Tallinn University improved to 4-2, while RSU dropped to 3-1.

 

All time series: 4-9 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University bench players scored twice as much points as their opponents, 22-11.

 

Stars of the game: Trine Kasemägi posted her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with a game high 25 points and 13 rebounds.

 

Sam MacKay (Dayton) had 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Üprus scored 12 poins and grabbed nine rebounds.

 

Guna Lagzdiņa replied with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Kate Aizsila had 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting.
