TTT Rīga lockdown Tallinn University, win by 38 points

"TTT Rīga" (4-1) has limited the Tallinn University players (2-3) to 29,0% shooting from the field and forced 26 turnovers in a 76-38 win on Saturday, February 22.

 

Tallinn University scoring leaders – shooting guard Pirgit Püü and forward Laura Audere – scored just seven points in the first half.

 

During an early 17-2 run, TTT Rīga held opponents scoreless for six minutes until Oksana Miil broke their scoreless streak with less than three minutes left in the first quarter.

 

Aigars Nerips side extended its lead up to 25 points early in the second quarter, 36-11.

 

Kerttu Jallai stepped up for the guests and scored five points to cut the gap to 18 points, 36-18.

 

She stood alone in her efforts, as Püü and Audere made just 3 of 12 shots from the field in the first half.

 

The guests never got closer than 18 points after the break (42-24). Few minutes later TTT Rīga went on another 19-2 run and never looked back.

Stat of the game: Tallinn University players scored a season low 38 points on 16 of 55 shooting, making just 29% of their attempts from the field.

 

Star of the game: Kristīne Kārkliņa starred for the hosts, connecting 8 of 10 shots from the field and all four free throw attempts. She had 22 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals for efficiency rating of 21.
