ECLEX Tallinn/1182 makes a comeback, secure Top 3 finish

Reigning Estonian champions ECLEX Tallinn/1182 (15-7, Top 6 tournament 5-5) erased a eight point deficit and advanced to the Nordea Basketball league quarterfinals with the 56-52 road win over the Tallinn University (3-7) on Thursday, March 20.

 

Tallinn University won the previous game (59-53) and used a strong start from Pirgit Püü to beat the guests in the first half, 33-25.

 

Mailis Pokk had a big second half for the guests. She scored 16 points to lead her team to one of the most important wins of the season.

 

ECLEX went on a 2-12 run in the middle of the fourth quarter to build a six point lead, 46-52, with less than five minutes remaining. Tallinn University never got closer by four points.

 

First 8 teams will finish as follows after the end of the regular season:

  2. TTT Rīga,

  3. ECLEX Tallinn/1182,

  4. RSU/Merks,

  5. Tallinn University,

  6. Audentes,

  7. Vega 1/Liepāja,

  8. University of Latvia.

 

Last two teams from group A – Tallinn University and Audentes – will play first two teams from group B, respectively, University of Latvia and Vega 1/Liepāja for the two remaining spots in the “Final Six”.

Star of the game: Mailis Pokk had 20 points on 9 of 18 shooting from the field, including 16 points in the second half. She also grabbed 9 rebounds for efficiency rating of 19.
