1182 Tallinn: new season, new name, new coach

Twelve teams from two countries are set for the third season of the Latvia and Estonia Women`s Basketball league (WBBL). The season tips off with "1182 Tallinn" and Tallinn University squaring off at 18:00.

 

Championship system

1. In the regular season 12 teams – five from Estonia and seven from Latvia – play one round with all teams (11 games).

 

2. After the first round teams are divided in two groups. Best six teams qualify for the "Top 6" tournament. All teams will play two rounds within their group, based on home-and-away format (10 games). All results of mutual games from the first round are taken to the second round.

 

3. Four best teams of the "Top 6" tournament qualify to the "Final Six", while the other two teams will play qualification games with the two best teams from the second group. The Eightfinals will be played in a home-and-away format, with the overall cumulative score determining the winner of a round.

 

4. The eightfinals winners will advance to the Final Six.

 

5. Winners of the regular season and the second best team will qualify for semifinals. The other four teams will play in the quarterfinals:

Quarterfinal A: #3 – #6

Quarterfinal B: #4 – #5

 

6. Final Six games will be played in a single elimination format.

Semifinal C: Winners of the regular season – Winner of B series

Semifinal D: Second placed team – Winner of A series.

 

7. Semifinal winners will play for the title.
