Introduction of Estonian teams

Press conference was held at the OlyBet Sports Bar on Wednesday, October 1st, to introduce the Estonian teams that are participating in the Estonia-Latvia United league on 2014/2015 season.  

The head coach and one player was present from each team and talked about their goals for next season.

 

Tallinn University – made a switch in their coaching staff, Üllar Kerde is now the head coach and Kersti Sirel is the assistant coach. The majority of the players have remained the same. Except their leader Pirgit Püü transfered to 1182 Tallinn and Guna Lagzdina from RSU/Merks joined the team.

The goal is to defend the Estonian Championship and to win a medal in the United league.

 

1182 Tallinn – have a new name and new coaches. The head coach is a former professional basketball player Howard Frier and assistant coach is a former Estonian national team's player Gerly Kostla. Most of the players from last year have stayed the same. Besides Püü, AmEst Rapla's leader Kerli Haas has also joined the team..

The goal is to win Estonian Championship and a medal in the United league.

 

Audentese SG/Noortekoondis – the head coach, Jaanus Levkoi. Two leaders from last year, Trine Kasemägi and Jane Svilberg, left to the USA to play college basketball. Kadri-Ann Lass is most likely going to take the leader role this season.

The goal is to do as well as last season (3rd in Estonian league, 7th in the United league).

 

AmEst Rapla – the head coach, Toomas Annuk, and the assistant coach, Tiiu Kosk. They lost their key player Kerli Haas and have added many youg players to the team. However, they have not completed their roster yet and therefor the goal might change during the season.

 

Tartu University – most of the players have stayed the same from last year with the exception of few. For exaple Mirjam Nikolai, former Eclex player, will join the team.

The goal is to do better then last season.
