Today we learn more about one of the leaders from Tartu University/Kalev - Kadri Uiga. Kadri is the candidate for the Women's National Team, has a silver from summer 2014 U18 European Championships Women Div.B and has participated in several 3on3 competitions.

How do you motivate yourself before the games?

The best motivator for me is to have a great team spirit before the game, it gives a lot of energy to play.

What kind of rituals you have before the games?

Main ritual before the games is that I have to tape my ankle every single time, but also I listen to music very much, which helps to consentrate and get pumped up.

Do you have anything you dislike about basketball?

There are a lot of injuries, but this factor is of course in every sport. Mainly I dislike the fact that it takes a lot of time and the games/trainings won't let me always do the things that I would like to do. Basketball has become as big part of my life, just like school.

In your eyes, what's the difference between men's and women's basketball?

First one is of course much faster and more vigorous than the other, but I think that women have more cleverness when playing basketball.

Have you done any other sports besides basketball?

As I started quite early (in 3rd grade), there hasn't been much opportunities to try other sports. Once I went to dance training for 3 months but there I understood I have no talent for it. If I hadn't started playing so early, I think I would be playing volleyball instead, because this is a hobby I like to do besides basketball. I just haven't had a change to try this sport any further because of the basketball (but I don't regret anything).

Tell us something about you

As I mentioned before, I like to play volleyball in my free time and ecspecially in summer at the beach. Also I really like to ride with bike and spend my free time with my friends. My Instagram account is @kadriuiga and you're all welcome to follow it! :)

Tell us something unique that a lot of people don't know about you

One fact is that I was born in Friday the 13th. The other is that when I smile, one corner of my mouth rises a bit higher, so that my smile is slightly crooked.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

As my height is 183cm, I usually play position 5 in my own team, but in U18 national team this year, I had to play sometimes position 3 or even 2 because there were too many tall players in my team, who were used to play only under the rim. That was an interesting and a bit comic experience.

Do you have anything else you would like to teel your fans?

For all of those who also play basketball, remember one quote: "Sometimes lose, always win".

What would be your favourite breakfast on Sunday morning?

English breakfast. I just love bacon!
