Šepte and Švedenberga denies Rapla

Latvia U16 team (1-0) earned its first win of the season as it knocked off AmEst Rapla, 58-56, on Saturday, October 11.

 

Rapla leader Kaia Kosk scored 11 points and added 11 rebounds in the second half. She tied the game 10 seconds before the end of regulation, 56-56. Luīze Šepte made a pass to Amanda Švedenberga and Jūrmala forward made the winning shot.

 

Ainārs Čukste side won the battle of rebounds, 54-49 (second half 30-25).

 

All time series: 4-2 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: Rapla players made only 9 of 39 shots in the second half (23,1%), while U16 girls connected 11 of 36 attempts.

 

Stars of the game: Fifteen year old forward Luīze Šepte (Ventspils) made a game winning assist. She scored a game high 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and made more assists than anyone else (5). Kaia Kosk led the way for Rapla, collecting 14 points, 17 rebounds and four assists.
