Jallai goes big as Tallinn University claims third win

Latvia-Estonia league MVP in January, Kerttu Jallai, exploded for a season best performance in three-pointers, offensive rebounds, assists, forced fouls and blocked shots as the Tallinn University extended its winning streak to three games with a 64-61 home victory over TTT juniores on Saturday, February 7.

 

Jallai caught fire early, scoring 16 points and adding nine rebounds in the first half to give her team an eight point advantage before the break 35-27.

 

Forward eclipsed the 25 point mark for a third straight game, connecting on 9 of 18 field goals and two three pointers but fell two points shy of matching her season high.

 

TTT juniores 16 year old center Digna Strautmane came out strong in the second half. She had 18 points and made a couple of three pointers to put her team ahead early in the fourth quarter 51-53.

 

Laura Audere replied with a three pointer 54-53.

 

The game remained tight until the last possession. Annija Einere, Laura Grabe and Sindija Kudule cut the hosts lead down to one point three times (57-56, 60-59 and 62-61).

 

Finally, Kerttu Jallai and Oksana Miil made all four free throw attempts to seal the win.

 

All time series: 4-1 (this season 2-0).

 

Stat of the game: Janne Rits side grabbed a season high 59 rebounds.

 

Stars of the game: Kerttu Jallai posted third double-double of the season. She had 27 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, eight forced fouls, four steals and three blocked shots for a efficiency rating of 33. Oksana Miil registered her first double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

 

Digna Strautmane had her ninth double-double of the season. She scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Forward Laura Grabe registered a season high 14 points.
