Tartu beat Rapla on road, moves on to Estonian semifinals

Mirjam Nikolai and Janeli Lilleallik scored 17 points each as the Tartu University rallied for a huge road win 63-54 over AmEst Rapla to seal the last remaining place in the Estonian league semifinals on Tuesday, March 3.

 

It was a last chance game for Rapla.

 

After losing head-to-head battle against Audentes SG/Noortekoondis (1-2), Toomas Annuk`s team rested their hopes on the last home game against the Tartu University.

 

Rapla`s field goal accuracy was lower than expected and it cost them dearly.

 

Tartu University extended its lead up to 18 points early in the fourth quarter, 59-41, and cruised to the fourth consecutive win.

 

All time series: 3-5 (this season 2-1).

 

Stat of the game: AmEst Rapla players connected just 27% of their two-point attempts (10-of-37).

 

Stars of the game: Janeli Lilleallik, Mirjam Nikolai and Kadri Uiga combined for a 47 points, including 15 two-points shots. Kadri Ugi registered her fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

 

Kaia Kosk finished the season with her eighth double-double. She had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

 

Next game: Latvia U16 vs Tartu University (March 7).
