1182 Tallinn outlasts Tallinn University

1182 Tallinn held on for a 78-75 home victory over the city rival Tallinn University on Tuesday, March 3.

 

The result broke a tie between the teams in season derbies: 1182 Tallinn improved to 2-1, while Tallinn University fell to 1-2.

 

The game was closely contested until the final minutes.

 

Tallinn University drew within one point three times in the fourth quarter: 68-67 after Jones lay-up, 72-71 and 74-73 after two free-throws and lay-up by Jallai.

 

1182 Tallinn held on and sealed the win with six perfect free throws from Annika Köster and Birgit Piibur, 78-73.

 

All time series: 5-3 (this season 2-1).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University players hit 20-of-22 free throws, while the guests connected 9-of-11 attempts.

 

Stars of the game: Birgit Piibur had 17 points, six assists, five forced fouls and two steals. Annika Köster added 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

 

Kerttu Jallai posted a massive double-double, finishing with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Jones had 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
