Audere strengthens Tallinn University, suffers loss against "TTT Riga"

Nordea league scoring leader Laura Audere made her debut for the Tallinn University (0-1) on Saturday, January 18. She scored 24 points in the losing effort against the Latvian powerhouse "TTT Riga" (2-0).

 

Last season Audere led the league in scoring with a 20,3 points average, overtaking Daina Lazdeniece (19.32), Pirgit Püü from Tallinn University (19.32) and Kerli Haas from “AmEst Rapla” (18.45).

 

She scored 406 points in 20 games. Audere added 32 more points in the “Final Four”, finishing her first season with 438 points. Lazdeniece played in two more games and took the league`s unofficial scoring title (24 games, 451 point).

 

Forward Dita Rozenberga finished third in 2013 scoring race, collecting 433 points in 24 games. On Saturday she used her speed and energy to build an early advantage for TTT Riga. Guests built a nine point lead after the first quarter, 26-17.

 

Riga players four times extended their lead up to 17 points, including the last attempt less than six minutes before the buzzer. Tallinn University attempted a comeback and cut the deficit to nine, 66-75, with less than two minutes remaining. Rozenberga fouled out, however, three point shot by Kitija Laksa sealed the game - 80:70 (26:17, 22:19, 15:11, 17:23).

 

All time series: 4-0 (this season 2-0).

 

Stat of the game: TTT Riga players scored 60 points on 30 for 51 two point shooting, making 59% of their attempts, while Tallinn University players connected 19 of 42 attempts.

 

Star of the game: Riga guard Kristīne Kārkliņa stole the show again. She made 7 of 12 two point shots, 1 of 4 attempts off the arc and both of her free throws, adding four rebounds, six assists and five steals for efficiency rating of 25.
