Good defense propels 1182 Tallinn to the first Top 6 win

1182 Tallinn guards Pirgit Püü and Birgit Piibur played some relentless defense to guide the Estonian Cup winners 1182 Tallinn to a 60-44 road win over TTT juniores on Saturday, January 23.

 

 

Energetic duo took over early in the second quarter. Their aggressive defense held TTT juniores scoreless for more than four minutes.

 

Meanwhile, the guests scored 20 points in the second quarter to grab a double figure lead 29-19.

 

Digna Strautmane showed off her versatility and Sigita Džarcāne completed many successful counterattacks.

 

They combined for a 27 points, however, the rest of players made only 7 field goals out of 34 attempts.

 

1182 Tallinn improved to 1-1, while TTT juniores dropped to 0-2.

 

All time series: 8-0 (this season 2-0).

 

Stat of the game: Pirgit Püü scored 12 points in the first half to turn the tide into her team`s favor.

 

Stars of the game: Birgit Piibur finished the game with eight points, five rebounds and a game high seven steals.

 

Pirgit Püü added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. She had also four assists and two steals.

 

Sigita Džarcāne replied with 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one blocked shot for a efficiency rating of 25.

 

Digna Strautmane scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked three shots.
