TTT Rīga wins the battle of the undefeated

 Catz Lappeenranta hosted two time Latvia-Estonia league champions TTT Rīga in a battle of undefeated teams as TTT Rīga pulled out a 69-56 road victory on Sunday, January 31.

 

 

 

The hosts led early in the game and won the first quarter by two points 19-17.

 

The game went back and forth throughout the first 35 minutes of the game, with the Catz being up by no more than five and TTT Rīga no more than four points.

 

After 10 lead changes TTT finally took over to finish the game with a 20-4 run.

 

Liene Priede hit a jump shot and power forward Rūta Veidere gave the guests a 53-52 lead with 05:32 minutes left in the second half.

 

Ieva Krastiņa and Anda Eibele added two three pointers to push the lead to double figures with 01:16 left.

 

TTT Rīga improved to 2-0, while Catz Lappeenranta dropped to 3-1.

 

All time series: 1-0 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: Catz Lappeenranta won 30 consecutive home games in front of their numerous fans, including 29 games in the Finnish league and one game in the Top 6 tournament (April 22, 2014 – January 31, 2016; Finnish Cup and friendlies not included).

 

Mika Haakana`s team limited TTT to 69 points – their worst offensive result this season, while playing in the Latvia-Estonia league (previous low was 80 points).

 

Stars of the game: Ieva Kūlīte posted her fourth double-double in 11 games. She had 12 points and 16 rebounds.

 

Kristen Mann registered her first double-double. She scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished a game high five assists.

 

Ieva Krastiņa had 15 points and Anda Eibele added 10 points.

 

Chandrea Jones scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.

 

Elena Reshetko finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and seven forced fouls.
