Huge double-double by Kasemägi is not enough for "Audentes"

Kerttu Jallai: 7th double-double of the season

"Audentes" (0-2) center Trine Kasemägi registered her 8th double-double of the season, scoring a game high 31 point and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 54-73 loss against the Tallinn University (1-1). Kersti Sirel team posted the first win in the Nordea Basketball league "Top 6" tournament.

 

Duel between “Tallinn University” and “Audentes” is one of a kind. Last season Kersti Sirel team finished sixth (11-11), leaving their younger opponents behind (10-12, #7).

 

“Audentes” completed a comeback in the Estonian league play-offs, beating students in a hotly contested semifinal series, 2-1.

 

Jaanus Levkoi girls continue to improve. On Sunday, September 29, Trine Kasemägi, Kadri Ann Lass, Jane Svilberg and Kristi Tamp won silver medals at the 2013 FIBA 3x3 World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.

 

But they did not stop there. From October 20 to November 10 “Audentes” scored six wins in a row, enjoying the longest winning streak in the team`s history. They stormed all the way to the “Top 6” tournament.

 

Tallinn University players also made the second round, after beating “Audentes” (72-66) in the last game of the first round. A couple of days before that meeting students added Latvian forward Laura Audere to their roster.

 

Audere, the best scorer of the 2013 regular season, debuted for the first time in a 70-80 home loss against “TTT Riga”. She had 24 points and nine rebounds. Six days later Audere missed most of her shots however she showed her rebounding prowess, grabbing a game high 18 rebounds.

 

Despite the fact that the Tallinn University lost the battle of rebounds (38-47) and four of their players – Kerttu Jallai, Oksana Miil, Laura Audere and Pirgit Püü – played for more than 37 minutes, hosts were better and won the game. Final result – 73:54 (21:9, 24:14, 15:20, 13:11).

 

More action will follow. On Thursday, January 30, the teams will meet again. “Audentes” must win by 19 points to level the series 1-1.

Star of the game: Kerttu Jallai posted her seventh double-double of the season. She had 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals for efficiency rating of 20.
