TTT juniores reach Final Six, will face 1182 Tallinn

 TTT juniores rebounded in style from their 109-116 loss one year ago by routing Latvijas Universitāte 150-110 to win their Latvia-Estonia league play-off series on Saturday, April 2.

 

 

Ainārs Čukste and Lilita Bergvalde team led their opponents by as much as 27 points in their encounter on Wednesday to finish the first of two games with 18 points advantage, 72-54.

 

Digna Strautmane and Sigita Džarcāne combined for a 48 points until the middle of the fourth quarter.

 

The second game was different.

 

LU players patrolled the paint, played more aggresive and went on a 9-19 opening run to cut the overall gap to eight points (81-73).

 

The hosts recovered in the second quarter. Digna Strautmane scored on a fast break and hit from the deep to made it 23-24.

 

Kecija Salceviča added a couple of long balls to give the hosts a three point lead, 35-32.

 

LU struggled in offense, missing most of their shots the rest of the way.

 

The TTT juniores lead continued to grow and the final 22 point margin signalled a 78-56 win.

 

1182 Tallinn will face TTT juniores in the first quarterfinal of the Latvia-Estonia league on Friday, April 8.

 

All time series: 6-5 (this season 3-0).

 

Stat of the game: LU players outrebounded their opponents 50-25 (offensive rebounds 25-6).

 

Stars of the game: Digna Strautmane scored a game high 20 points. She added eight rebounds, two assists, three steals, two blocked shots and five forced fouls for a efficiency rating of 25.

 

Sindija Kudule had nine points, while Kecija Salceviča connected three three-pointers enroute to 13 points.

 

Egita Vīnakmene and Liene Stalidzāne replied with 19 and 17 points respectively.
