Samantha MacKay posts triple-double and sets steals record

Tallinn University guard Samantha MacKay (Dayton, Atlantic 10 conference) became the Latvia-Estonia league`s steals record holder after a 83-36 road victory over Latvia U16 team on Sunday, October 23.

 

MacKay came up with a triple-double performance with 14 points, 11 assists and 14 assists.

 

Previous triple-double was registered on October 24, 2015, when Vega 1/Liepāja captain Kristīne Silarāja had 38 points, 11 assists and 11 steals in a home win over SK Cēsis.

 

MacKay recorded a Latvia-Estonia league all-time best result in steals.

 

She had 14 steals in just 24:36 minutes of action, beating previous record, set by Baiba Eglīte (11) in a TTT Rīga win over Latvia U16 on December 10, 2014.

 

MacKay and her teammates went on a 27-4 run in the second quarter to build a 25 points lead at the halftime, 41-16.

 

All time series: 6-0 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University forced 47 turnovers, scored 43 points off turnovers and 24 points after fast breaks.

 

Stars of the game: four Tallinn University players finished in double figures.

 

Trine Kasemägi, Greeta Üprus and Samantha MacKay scored 14 points each, while Petra Noponen added 10 points.

 

Laura Meldere had 12 points and three forced fouls.
