Samantha MacKay saves the day for Tallinn University

Tallinn University experienced tough reception at Latvijas Universitāte on Saturday, November 12. Janne Rits team held the hosts scoreless for the final three minutes while Samantha MacKay (Dayton) scored last four points for a 67-62 win.

 

 

First year coach Eva Pavlovska led LU to its first win at G4S Noorteliiga on November 6.

 

Six days later LU surprised the guests by scoring 25 points in the second quarter for a seven point lead at the half, 28-35.

 

Tallinn University went on a 25-11 run in the third quarter to regain the lead before the final ten minutes, 53-46.

 

The hosts refused to give up. Liene Stalidzāne led the charge, reducing the gap to one point, 63-62, with 03:09 left to play.

 

Samantha MacKay took over to score the decisive four points for the visitors.

 

Tallinn University improved to 5-2, while LU fell to 1-3.

 

All time series: 10-0 (this season 1-0).

 

Stat of the game: Tallinn University players scored 18 points more in the paint (40-22).

 

Stars of the game: Samantha MacKay flirted with triple-double again, posting impressive statline – 15 points, 14 rebounds and a game high seven assists.

 

Trine Kasemägi contributed 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

 

Liene Stalidzāne had 17 points, while Ieva Jundase added 11 points and 10 rebounds for a well earned double-double.
