Tallinn University forward Kerttu Jallai played her heart out in the first game against the University of Latvia. She was very efficient in the first half and was three assists away from the triple-double. Jallai had 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocked shots for efficiency rating of 28.

Good concentration, focus, offensive rebounds. What was the key factor to win?

We moved the ball well. For the first time – after the long time – we played like a team. We ran! It all starts to come back together because the running has always been like a key for us. If we ran, we play good basketball. In the positional basketball our performance is not as good – it does not suit for us.

Twenty nine point advantage – is it 50 or more % to win the series?

It was a hard game for us. We have tried to focus. We paid a lot attention to this game and worked really hard past week. We learned the whole week and today we did it. Hopefully it`s gonna be easier on Monday on our home court. We are almost 30 points ahead but we still need to be calm and take this upcoming game as serious as we did in Riga.

How has your routine changed during the past few weeks?

We practice the same way but – before the play-offs – you need to take the same things more serious. We concentrate more on certain games. We need to keep our eyes on the prize, keep focused. For example, we thinked about this game the whole week. Nothing else, just this game. We are gonna keep working forward until Monday. And then – we will see what happens.

Tallinn University will advance with a win or a loss up to 28 points in the second “play-off” game on Monday, March 31.

Winner will advance to play the RSU/Merks squad (#4) in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 4.
